Hello everyone,

I am delighted to be taking part in two exciting events next weekend:

Grove Park Carnival Parade
Come and join the Grove Park Carnival Parade. The route will wind its way through the streets of Grove Park to Chinbrook Meadows on Saturday 12th August. We welcome everyone who wants to take part and there’s also a prize for the best costume! The last Parade was over 30 years ago, so it’s high time for a comeback. Meet at 11am at St Augustine's Church, Baring Road.

Calum F Kerr - Amulet Reunited (after E. Nesbit)
A new interactive live art work inspired by the fantastical adventure tales of local author E. Nesbit, devised especially for Grove Park Carnival

Joanna McCormick - Chalkhill Blue Butterfly
Meet the Chalkhill Blue Butterfly in the Carnival Parade and make your own butterfly masks!

Sarah Sparkes, Sarah Doyle, Miyuki Kasahara, Rebecca Feiner -
Chutney Preserves River Dance
The Chutney Preserves are a combination of village fete and art exhibition, they create one day public art works which visitors can interact with and immerse themselves in. Inspired by the River Quaggy, the Chutney Preserves  will be emerging from the waters with puppets, masks and costumes.

Grove Park's Got Talent
Hosted by Mzz Kimberly
Singers, dancers, rappers and poets! Watch Grove Parks most talented residents compete for a trophy and  £100 cash prize! A panel of guest judges will select their favourite acts.
Have you got talent? Whether you’re a rock band, a choir, a performance poet, a fortune teller or a lion tamer, we’d love to see you on stage.  http://www.groveparksgottalent.co.uk/

Uncle Tacko's Flea Circus
Uncle Tacko is itching to show you his international troupe of personally trained fleas… gasp in amazement as mighty Hercu-Fleas pulls a golden chariot around the circus ring, gaze in wonder at Madam Flea-Flea’s daring leaps on her flying trapeze and watch out for the smouldering sensuality of the Russian acrobat – Olga Ivanitch, plus many more tiny feats of astonishment.

My friends over at James Ross Hunter Youth Support - http://jamesrosshunteryouthsupport.blogspot.co.uk/ - have extended the deadline for their poster competition. The brief is to create a poster for peace, to raise awareness of the dangers of knife crime in our community. There is prize money to be won, selected designs will be exhibited at their venue in Sydenham, and the winning poster will be displayed at bus stops throughout Lewisham. The competition is open to all, works should be A3 size, in any medium. Send your entry clearly marked on the reverse with your name, address, email and phone number, to: POSTER COMPETITION, James Ross Hunter Youth Support, TNG Youth and Community Centre, 111 Wells Park Road, SE26 6AD. The deadline is September 30th 2017, good luck!
With love and best wishes - Joanna
